Thomas Nelles (51) will assume the position of Sales Director Central Europe for Schaeffler in the Automotive Aftermarket, effective 1 January 2017. He will lead the sales organizations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the Benelux countries. Mr. Nelles will replace Lutz Sattler (62), who will be retiring on 31 July 2017. Until that time, Mr. Sattler will continue to actively support the Central Europe sales team and represent company interests in industry organizations within Germany.
“We are happy to have found the ideal successor in Thomas Nelles. With his many years of experience in the Automotive Aftermarket industry, an excellent network of connections, and strong customer focus, he will be able to proactively recognize and deliver what our customers require,” said Stefan Knaack, Vice President Western Europe, Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket. “Lutz Sattler is a proven industry expert, who has played a significant role in our business since the mid-1990s.”
In the coming years, Schaeffler is anticipating new challenges in its aftermarket business in Central Europe, which will primarily be associated with a changing distribution landscape. Mr. Nelles’ main job will be to further drive forward the clear positioning of the four product brands LuK, INA, FAG, and Ruville. Special focus will be to establish the expertise of the INA brand for the four key engine systems, at all levels of the aftermarket industry.
Thomas Nelles joined the Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket Business Division as Sales Manager for Central Europe in 2015. Mr. Nelles came from the Hess Group, where he headed the automotive spare-parts business. Prior to that, he held management positions in spare-parts sales at TRW and Tenneco Automotive Germany. In his new position, Mr. Nelles will report directly to Stefan Knaack.
