For the second year in a row, a win by Bodo Otte secured the German Tractor Pulling Championship for the Le Coiffeur Pulling Team (LCPT). With his victory on 5 August in Edewecht, Germany, the LCPT team took the lead in the Open Class to 2.5 tons for good. Congratulations goes out for this outstanding performance from Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket, sponsor of the internationally experienced team.
In the first race Otte, who is a Schaeffler employee, set the stage for the victory with a “full pull,” traversing the entire 100 meter race track on the first leg. No other team came even close to his performance. This was his fifth win in six championship races and it secured his team the German Tractor Pulling Championship before the end of the 2012 season. “Defending the championship is the highlight of a really successful season,” said Otte. “The seventh and last race on 22 and 23 September in Alkersleben will be an exhibition run for us. But we’re going to test some things for the European championship, too.”
The Le Coiffeur Pulling Team is driving a bright, glowing yellow and green tractor this year for the first time. Well-known on the DTM circuit, these two colors represent the Schaeffler product brands LuK and INA. LuK is world leader for tractor clutches, and with its sponsorship Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket is an innovative and dependable partner for three top tractor-pulling teams. Besides the Le Coiffeur Pulling Team, the Aftermarket expert is also sponsoring the British Bear Essentials Pulling Team and the Black Power Pulling Team from Denmark.
The teams sponsored by Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket can be seen this year at tractor pulls in Germany (DTTO), Great Britain (BTPA) and in other European countries in ETPC European Championship. Among the remaining highlights this season are the finals of the British Championship in Great Eccleston on 25-26 August, and the European Tractor Pulling Championships on 8 September in Füchtorf, Germany. With the German Championship now won, the Le Coiffeur Pulling Team has the chance to finish strongly at these pulls as well.
Tractor pulling is a competition for high-performance tractors. The tractors pull a weighted sled as far as they can down a long straight track, ideally a “full pull” which is the entire length of the 100 meter track. The time it takes is unimportant here. What counts is pulling power and driving technique.
